Event Description

Benjy Simmons

Starke Windows and Doors

Benjy's talk will cover the three primary window frame materials, from thermally broken aluminium, uPVC, and timber, and the pros and cons of each, in terms of cost, thermal performance, availability, and last but not least, embodied carbon. We specifically won’t talk about solid aluminium, as this no longer meets the requirements of the building code.

The key learning outcomes will be:

  • Pros and cons of the three primary window frame types, and the best applications to use or not to use them
  • Develop an understanding of the embodied carbon in thermally broken aluminium windows, uPVC, and timber.
  • Develop an understanding of different glazing types, and how the glazing can be paired with the framing to achieve the required design outcomes.

Symonite Panels

“Simplicity is complexity resolved”

Symonite produce and distribute high-performance full facade experts.

Symonite designs, fabricates and installs modern facade systems – cladding, windows and doors, flashings, louvres, fire-rated joinery, curtain walls, as well as prefabricated, modular panels. Symonite will discuss their facade systems.
