Talk topic: Better With Age - Balancing Senior Living Style And Safety

Today’s seniors are seeking housing that permits a vibrant, active lifestyle, as well as assistance with daily living that supports next-level health. Residents and their families are also looking for modern amenities. Specifically, they want socialization, dining, and wellness with a sense of community. In all of these spaces, accessibility, comfort and safety play a large role in making good choices for aging seniors. And as we age, flooring becomes an even more critical component to design. As more senior living centres and communities are developed in New Zealand, interiors need to impress, perform, and last. We will provide up-to-date flooring design recommendations that will help new residents and their families feel safe, and, most importantly, at home.

Hafele

Hafele NZ will cover all aspects of Assisted Living. A home is for the long term.

This presentation will cover design, planning and scope of looking to the changing needs of a homes occupants. Hafele will go through the various aspects to think of when designing for Assisted living.

When planning to build a new home, most people anticipate spending a number of years, if not decades, living in it. Regardless of the length of stay, new homes are more often than not designed to accommodate changing needs over its lifetime. Consideration should be given to the occupants of the dwelling that one is designing for. This is perhaps even more important when designing for people with a disability. It is imperative that conversations at the design table should focus on the broader vision or amenity of the residents, whilst ensuring that all the key stakeholders are consulted.

The focus of this module will be on fully accessible and high physical support domiciles.
