ARCH. GERARDO GALICIA (b.1982)
Architect by the UNAM and the Washington Alexandria Architecture Center of Virginia Tech, with over 15 years of architectural design experience. Along with Arch. Susana Pantoja, Co- Founder and General Director of ACCIDENTAL Architecture Studio in 2013, a practice with design of over 97,000sqm of diverse typologies, such as Social Housing ‘prototypes’, Residential and mix-used developments, a Pubic Market and a Laboratory for Material’s Research. He pursues major urban projects; leading & coordinating three public & private institutions for “Post-Industrial Atlampa: New Gateway to Downtown Mexico City”; awarded as a winner of the ‘LAC Cities Challenge’, an open call by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
Gerardo approaches his design, as a fiery exploration of flexibility combined with the power of nature. For an Architecture that is dynamic, alive and on budget; but also, a voice, a space, an essence. Spiritual, emotional and nourishing for the soul. Always open to learn from others and to team up with visual artists, dancers, craft makers, economists, and especially social impact initiatives.
He's passionate about multicultural environments. Having worked and lived in Virginia, New York City, Riviera Maya & Riviera Nayarit. Having explored +45 cities and 20 countries among Europe, America & Asia. Following a dream to research, design, serve & travel. On a more personal level, intensely happy with yoga, meditation, football, tantric journeys and the mysterious depth of the ocean sea.

Gerardo will present a brief overview of his architectural practice. Talking about the unique opportunities and discoveries of design for each case. The talk will be an overview of the essence of each exercice, focusing on recent projects such as: Apan Housing Laboratory, San Juan Market Renovation, Laboratory for Material´s Research, Urban Densification for Infonavit and Post-Industrial Atlampa: New Gateway to Downtown Mexico City.

Elrond Burrell Podcast with DK
Elrond Burrell is director of VIA architecture Ltd, specialising in Passive House and low-carbon architecture, and the current the chair of the board of Te Tōpūtanga o te Whare Korou ki Aotearoa, Passive House Institute New Zealand (PHINZ). He is also Principal Advisor Architecture & Design in the Building System Performance Branch of MBIE.
Elrond is passionate about improving people’s quality of life, health and environmental impact through beautiful, sustainable, high-performance architecture.
An alumni of a Victoria University of Wellington (B.Arch, First Class Honours) and University of Westminster (London), Elrond is a registered Architect (UK) and certified Passive House designer. He has over two decades of experience in the industry, including projects across Aotearoa NZ, Australia, the UK, Canada and the Middle East. He was instrumental in the design and delivery of some of the UK’s largest Passive House apartment buildings and social housing, and several Passive House schools.
Elrond is an international keynote presenter about Passive House and low-carbon architecture. He has presented at conferences in NZ, Australia, England, the US and Germany.
