Cip Făcăeru
Augmented Space Agency
BIO:
Ciprian Făcăeru is a new media architect and researcher focused on immersive, interactive & digitally augmented media experiences and arts. He is a research assistant at UNATC - National University of Theater and Film and co-founder of Augmented Space Agency, a design and development studio with an emphasis on AR and VR technologies defined in the mixed real-virtual continuum.
His desire to experiment new design paradigms and artistic expressions using new media technologies converges towards an exploratory art-based research that is questioning humanity-technology relationships and aims to discover ethical forms that could have a positive impact on culture and society.
Talk abstract: Horizontal approach on - XR, metaverse, mixed reality, immersive, augmentation.
ENG // Augmented Space Agency are explorers of the vast frontiers found at the convergence of physical and virtual realities, architects of augmented spaces and designers of future tech mediated experiences.
The activity of the space crew revolves around new media technologies, immersive, interactive and digitally augmented experiences found in the real-virtual continuum. Their portfolio includes a variety of XR projects (AR, VR, MR and interactive installations) that define a wide range of customized solutions, innovative and creative ways of visualization, interactive communication and new digitally augmented experiences.
Their mission is to create new experiences and digitally mediated connections that can positively contribute to the development of new forms of art and creative-innovative communication.
For this talk we will focus on a slice of our work that touches on our background as architects - mainly AR in urban interventions and the convergence of educational applications in immersive XR experiences and interactive installations.

Mania Aghaei Meibodi
Taubman College
BIO:
Architect Dr. Mania Aghaei Meibodi is Assistant Professor of Architecture at Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Michigan. Aghaei Meibodi has been a leader in developing novel computational design and fabrication methods suitable for large scale manufacturing in the building industry. During her time at ETH Zurich, she contributed to several cutting-edge projects and shaping of Digital Building Technologies group (dbt).
Talk topic:
Aghaei Meibodi will be talking about the Smart slab project and DFAB House being the world’s first full-scale architecture project to use 3D sand printing for its formwork, as well as Deep Façade, which introduced the advantages of 3D printing for production of complex mold and revival of cast metal in architecture. Aghaei Meibodi’s research continues to reshape the landscape of architecture and building industry through machine learning, robotic and 3D printing.
