Event Description

This presentation explores innovative solutions in modern building design, with a focus on Lifting Stations and architectural aluminium finishes that replicate the appearance of timber.

Architects and designers will gain practical insight into specifying effective wastewater pumping solutions for challenging project conditions, alongside an overview of coated aluminium systems that deliver the warmth and aesthetic of timber with the durability and low-maintenance benefits of aluminium.

The session will cover where and why Lifting Stations are used, key application considerations, and the different system types available to support efficient plumbing design outcomes across a range of project typologies. In addition, attendees will learn about timber-look aluminium finishes, including their architectural applications, performance benefits, and suitability for projects seeking the appearance of natural timber with enhanced longevity and reduced maintenance requirements.

Together, the presentations provide valuable specification knowledge for projects requiring both functional performance and refined architectural detailing.

10.15am - 11.15am

Graham Denysschen | National Business Manager | Saniflo New Zealand

Today’s presentation on “Lifting Stations” equips architects and designers with essential insights to confidently specify Lifting Station solutions, to address demanding project requirements. Key take outs for architects and designers include the use of Lifting Stations for different applications, the variations and benefits available to ensure plumbing requirements are met along with types of projects where Lifting Stations may be considered.

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of the presentation, you should have a good understanding of:

  1. Explaining the purpose of Lifting Stations
  2. Identifying when to specify Lifting Stations as pump solutions for different applications
  3. Pumping principles and applications that can be considered for future projects

11.15am - 12.15pm

Stuart Wilson | MD | Metwood

This CPD explores advanced aluminium finishing technology that delivers the warmth and visual appeal of natural timber while retaining the strength, durability, and low-maintenance benefits of aluminium.

Stuart Wilson will provide an overview of the specialist coating process used to achieve realistic timber-look finishes and examine how these solutions are being applied across a range of architectural projects. The session will showcase both interior and exterior applications, including cladding, louvres, gates, fences, partitions, baffles, and ceiling systems.

Attendees will also gain insight into the science behind powder coating technology, long-term durability performance, and how aluminium-based systems can help architects address fire compliance requirements while achieving their desired design outcomes.

Key Learning Outcomes

By the end of this presentation, attendees will be able to:

  1. Evaluate the benefits and limitations of timber-look aluminium systems for architectural applications, including performance, maintenance, durability, and aesthetic considerations.
  2. Understand the role of advanced coating technologies in achieving long-term durability, weather resistance, and compliance across a variety of interior and exterior environments.
  3. Assess specification opportunities for aluminium-based timber alternatives, including how these systems can support fire compliance, design flexibility, and lifecycle performance objectives.
