Electric Vehicle Charging Systems

We explain a technology that is rapidly becoming more common in people's homes, businesses and public spaces. The course covers: EV charging basics, key chargepoint parameters, charger rates, connection types, EV chargepoint functionality, design considerations, grid permission, mandatory schemes, domestic & commercial grants, new build EV schemes, vehicle to grid technology and case studies.

Speaker BIO: Mark Golding is Head of Sales at Spirit Energy and has nearly ten years of experience in the UK renewables sector, working across solar PV, battery storage and EV charging in both domestic and commercial settings. He has been involved with installations ranging from two-panel residential systems up to 1 MW commercial arrays, which has given him a practical understanding of how renewable technology behaves at a range of scales.

Mark has delivered CPD sessions and technical training to architects, specifiers and industry professionals on a regular basis, focusing on the design decisions and installation realities that determine whether a system performs as intended. His aim in each session is to give attendees the knowledge to specify solar PV, battery storage or EV charging confidently within their own projects.

He also has direct experience as a customer. His own home is fitted with an in-roof solar PV system, battery storage and an EV charger, configured to make the most of the energy generated on site. That perspective informs how he talks about system design, performance expectations and what it is actually like to live with renewable technology over the long term.
