Event Description

10.15am - 11.15am

Amy Tankard and Guy Shaw

Passive House Institute

Passive House Institute NZ (PHINZ) is on a mission to close the gap between the desired and actual performance of buildings and to accelerate the delivery of measurable and continuous improvements in their indoor environmental quality in tandem with their energy-efficiency. We work with professionals and the public sector to improve the energy efficiency of homes and public buildings, helping improve health and well-being, and relieving fuel poverty for New Zealanders. Amy will discuss what they are doing in the building and construction industry.

11.15am - 12.15pm

Murray Durbin

Enveloped

We all know fresh air is good for us and balanced ventilation systems ensure that stale moist air in a home is ducted out at the same rate as fresh, filtered air from the outside is delivered. The ‘lungs’ of a home, these highly engineered ventilation systems can significantly reduce the humidity, CO2 levels and VOC’s inside a home. Advanced filters help to remove allergens and pollutants from the intake air while the lower indoor humidity can inhibit the growth of viruses, dust mites and bed bugs. The system is continuously extracting air from "wet rooms'' such as kitchens, bathrooms and laundries and delivering filtered, fresh air into living rooms and bedrooms. Of course you can open your windows and doors, but to ensure air quality the system will operate continuously year-round. Murray will talk about high performance heat recovery ventilation systems.
