Event Description

Margherita Cesca Nelder-Haynes is an Italo-British RIBA Chartered Architect currently practising in Cambridge, UK. She is Director of Architecture at Lanpro, Founder of ITALIANspaceWISE and Chair of EastCambsCAN.

Margherita talks about her career and working on heritage buildings in New York City’s 5th Avenue and what that experience was like being a young graduate from Italy and how that foundation has shaped her work since. Margherita has worked in Canada, Russia and Africa since then and discusses how that international exposure and experience informed her work.

One of the areas Margherita is exploring is pioneering technologies related to sustainability and Carbon Zero strategies. Why is this so important to her work and how is she putting this passion front and centre in her work. Her work also embraces emerging opportunities being presented by digital tech, coding, blockchain and AI. This fuels her appetite for knowledge, new concepts and technologies.

Margherita also talks about practice creation and management and the introduction of her new platform ITALIANspaceWISE. Margherita discusses the positive impacts she has been able to make with the ITALIANspaceWISE platform and the potential new design opportunities that could be created from this.
