She taught at SUTD Singapore, Westminster London, AA London, Ravensbourne London, and at the architectural school of Brighton and more recently at Elisava Barcelona. She was also during 4 years an EU Marie Curie scholarship recipient when she developed the drone spray technology for sustainable architecture and refurbishments.

Talk topic:

MuDD is an architectural company and research think tank focused on using cutting edge technology combined with raw local materials to deliver fast and cheap constructions in a variety of contexts and particularly focused on housing innovative systems.

The resulting constructions or processes of construction tend to provoke contradictory opinions within the public! We are also passionate about the social impact of new aesthetics and forms of architectural envelopes.

The marriage between robotics, including drones, with highly tactile matter, such as clay, engenders edifications at the cross between vernacular and futuristic scenarios, which the main aim is to seek human comfort in a variety of rural or urban contexts.”

Oliver Thomas

BIG

PIXEL

The Intersection of Design, Technology and Fabrication

During this talk, Oliver will detail out his experience working for Aedas, Front, and BIG working on real-world projects at the intersection of Design, Technology, and Fabrication. Expanding on how design, technology and fabrication is disrupting the profession and design and build process itself by outlining some of his own work developed under the architecture collective PIXEL. Rethinking the typical role and business model of an architecture practice through the use of modular building systems, digital fabrication, and computation. How we as architects can positively affect change as we face challenges such as affordable housing, sustainable living and ecological building methodologies.
