Jon reckons 'affordable housing' is either affordable to build (cheap) or affordable to run (comfortable, healthy, durable). It's easy to see which is best - cheap buildings result in long-term healthcare costs and expensive fixups. This means cheap buildings are an expense our country should avoid. When we improve the invisible realm of building envelope performance, it's far less attractive than making a building look good inside and out, but it's far more important.
