Depth, Design & Diversity: Belgotex New Zealand

“We are proud to bring a world of perfect choices to New Zealand.”

“The depth and breadth of our innovative portfolio is what really set us apart from others in the New Zealand flooring industry,” says Belgotex New Zealand Commercial Sales Manager, Jeremy Wallis.

Belgotex New Zealand is part of the Belgotex Group, operating fifteen companies across four continents, with global partnerships that help bring design innovation and inspiration to the New Zealand flooring market. Their extensive ranges cover both commercial and residential applications, with a product portfolio that includes premium carpet, vinyl, laminate and timber solutions for every project. “We hold stock across a broad range of price points,” Jeremy says. “And if we don’t have exactly what you’re looking for, we can create a tailored solution. We’re specialists across all flooring categories (excluding ceramics), supported by an international network that gives us access to global sourcing to meet the specific needs of each project.”

A newer offering in the portfolio is European Hardened Timber, which brings the latest technology to wood flooring with a sustainable scratch- and impact-resistent timber that Jeremy says far exceeds Engineered Timber Products. “We’ve been working in the European Hardened Timber space for about 18 months now, and this is an area of the business we’ll be investing in even more in 2026. European Hardened Timber offers an exceptional sustainability and durability balance, with a yield per tree that is 10 times what you can get with engineered timber. This is because the technology allows for thinner layers of wood, creating more usable timber product from each tree; from a carbon perspective, it’s second to none.”

Belgotex recently installed their award-winning BJELIN European Hardened Timber in Tatum Pavilion near Wellington. “This is a high-volume events venue that required a durable, cost-effective product that still delivered on the warm heritage feeling of the rest of the space,” Jeremy says. “BJELIN ticked all those boxes and provided a great result.”

Premium Solution Dyed Nylon (Premium SDN) carpets are Belgotex’s flagship product, Jeremy says, and offer a very attractive option for elevated interiors. “Hilton and Westminster are probably the most well-known offerings in our Premium SDN ranges. Hilton is a dense pile carpet that is both hard-wearing and luxuriously sophisticated, while Westminster offers an elegant cut-pile solution with plush softness and superior sound absorption. Manufactured at our Belgotex South Africa facility, these premium stainproof carpets leverage Belgotex’s proprietary stainproof technology to deliver attractive design, excellent resilience, and long-term appearance retention. When we supply carpet for architects and designers to use in their own homes or for their higher-end clients, Premium SDN is typically what they choose.”

In addition to a plush feel and a great aesthetic, Premium SDN carpets can provide incredible durability, as recently demonstrated at Youth Hub Christchurch. “The client for that project wanted something hardwearing without going down the route of carpet tiles, so we used our Westminster because it is a heavy-duty commercial cut pile carpet with a very high twist rate. This means that it offers great appearance retention and long-term performance in a commercial setting. Westminster provided Youth Hub with a balance of comfort and durability, bringing vibrancy and positivity into this supportive space for young people.”

“With Teulo, we are excited to provide another channel to connect with architects and designers, who are often time-poor. We want to create CPD opportunities where we can show them something new and relevant for a project they’re working on. We hope that will open more doors for us to meet and support the industry.”

For projects with even higher performance needs, Belgotex also offers a range of residential and commercial vinyl flooring to provide a modern aesthetic with a durable finish. In their commercial portfolio, they have supplied vinyl flooring for a range of projects in healthcare, retail, education, hospitality, entertainment and sporting facilities. “Commercial vinyl is the perfect flooring option anywhere a smart, good-looking, hard-wearing, and easy-maintenance solution is required,” Jeremy says. “For our healthcare projects like Wakefield and Hillmorton Hospitals and Mason Clinic, we can supply a high-performing vinyl option without a traditional, institutional-looking finish. Belgotex really meets the brief for those kinds of projects with both fresh design and functionality.”

Belgotex’s recent expansion into the European Hardened Timber space has inspired Jeremy and his team to invest in professional development and learning activities around all of their products, another area where Belgotex will be focusing over the year ahead. “We have showrooms in Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington, where we welcome industry professionals to come and see our products for themselves. We hold functions and industry training presentations in all of our showroom spaces, and we’re looking forward to doing more of that in the year ahead.

“With Teulo, we are excited to provide another channel to connect with architects and designers, who are often time-poor. We want to create CPD opportunities where we can show them something new and relevant for a project they’re working on. We hope that will open more doors for us to meet and support the industry.”
