“We see our role as helping architects and designers navigate product selection, sustainability requirements, and project challenges with confidence,” says Varo Pasupati, Head of Commercial Sales for Godfrey Hirst.
“Innovation continues to be a major focus for us and extends well beyond aesthetics.”
“We see our role as helping architects and designers navigate product selection, sustainability requirements, and project challenges with confidence,” says Varo Pasupati, Head of Commercial Sales for Godfrey Hirst.
When Teulo last caught up with Varo in 2024, GH Commercial had just launched a new series of CPD-accredited factory tours, inviting industry professionals to take a behind-the-scenes look at the manufacturing processes behind their innovative flooring solutions. “These tours remain an important way for architects and designers to gain a deeper understanding of flooring production, product performance, and sustainability in practice. Seeing the processes behind our products helps bring specifications to life and provides valuable insight into the considerations that shape commercial flooring solutions.”
These events are part of a larger commitment to collaboration, Varo says. “We're focused on partnership, rather than simply supplying products. Our team spends considerable time working alongside architects, designers, contractors, and end users to understand project goals and help identify the right flooring solutions for each space. That approach, combined with ongoing investment in innovation, sustainability, and design-led product development, is what continues to differentiate us in the market.”
By working collaboratively with industry, GH Commercial is able to focus their portfolio on products and solutions that will best support architects, designers, and end users. “Our teams work closely with customers and specifiers to understand emerging design trends and project requirements, helping us develop products that genuinely reflect the needs of the market. We offer a broad range of flooring solutions, including carpet tiles, custom woven broadloom, Designer Jet-printed flooring, felted flooring, and hard flooring products. For architects and designers looking to create something truly unique, our custom woven and Designer Jet capabilities open up almost endless design possibilities, allowing bespoke colours, patterns, branding elements, and wayfinding features to be incorporated directly into the flooring solution.”
One product area that’s showing particular momentum in 2026 is felted flooring, Varo says. “This category continues to evolve as workplace, education, and public sector environments seek solutions that balance performance with modern aesthetics. Our felted flooring collections resonate with designers seeking contemporary aesthetics, durability, and versatility across commercial environments. Carpet tile and custom woven solutions also remain core parts of our commercial offering, providing designers with a wide range of options to create distinctive and high-performing interior spaces. And we’re continuing to strengthen our hard flooring offering, ensuring we can provide more holistic flooring solutions across commercial projects.”
Alongside their ongoing product innovations, GH Commercial continues to evolve and improve sustainability performance. “Our focus is on making responsible decisions across the product lifecycle, from design and manufacturing through to product transparency and long-term performance. We work closely with our manufacturing partners and suppliers to improve resource efficiency, reduce waste, and support programmes that advance environmental outcomes. Equally important is providing transparency through recognised certifications and product declarations that assist customers in making informed specification decisions.”
Performance remains critical, Varo says, with commercial flooring expected to withstand heavy use while maintaining its appearance and functionality over many years. “Our approach is to develop products that deliver durability, comfort, and acoustic performance alongside strong sustainability credentials. This ensures that our customers don't have to compromise between environmental goals and project outcomes.”
As part of Mohawk, one of the world’s largest flooring manufacturers, GH Commercial is uniquely placed to bring a breadth of global expertise to a local scale. “We combine deep flooring knowledge with strong relationships. Through our Australasian footprint, we can provide access to a wide range of flooring categories, technical expertise, and specification support while maintaining a strong local presence for our customers.”
Working closely with local architects and designers from the early concept stage through to project delivery, GH Commercial makes specification as seamless as possible, giving industry professionals the freedom to bring their vision to life. “Because we're locally represented and operate throughout New Zealand and Australia, we're able to provide responsive service and specification support when projects need it most. Designers are increasingly being asked to deliver spaces that are beautiful, durable, sustainable and cost-effective. By combining extensive customisation options with practical flooring expertise, we help bring ambitious design concepts to life while keeping projects on programme and within budget.”
Looking ahead, Varo and his team are focussed on being a trusted flooring supplier for the industry and working alongside industry professionals to achieve the best project outcomes. “Our future is centred around continued innovation, sustainability, and expanding the solutions we can offer our customers. We're always keen to connect with architects, designers, and other industry professionals who want to learn more about the latest developments in commercial flooring. We believe great projects are built through collaboration, and we'd love to be part of the conversation.”
