Lily worked part-time with Teulo as a Digital Content Administrator from 2021 to 2024 while completing her Bachelor of Architecture at Victoria University. She now returns in a new role, bringing broader experience and a fresh perspective on the industry. “I really enjoyed working with Teulo; after graduating, I wanted to gain practical experience. I began working part-time as a designer for two companies, Exxovantage, where I assisted with the design of exoskeleton suits, and Nhabit, where I produced architectural renderings of building designs. I also spent a couple of years working in the media industry, which was both interesting and valuable. It gave me the opportunity to explore a very different field and develop a broader range of skills. Ultimately, however, I knew I wanted to return to work that was more closely aligned with my architectural education and long-term interests.”
Ready to return to the architectural world, Lily contacted Teulo founder Janelle Wynyard to explore the possibility of rejoining the team.“We had stayed in touch over the years, so I was excited when Jay invited me to come back on board. I initially became involved in supporting Teulo’s online events, ensuring the chat, technology, and other behind-the-scenes elements ran smoothly. “Jay also began introducing me to business development and sales, including connecting with manufacturers and helping them understand the value Teulo can offer. It is a newly created role that combines event coordination with developing and supporting Teulo’s industry partnerships.”
When she left her media job in mid-2026 and started to shape up the next steps of her career, Lily was also considering a move overseas. “I spent my early childhood in Windsor in the UK, and I’d always wanted to go back to England one day. I was already looking to move to London when I reached back out to Jay, who has been working there for a lot of this year. As soon as she started talking about the industry over there and how vibrant it is, I knew now was the time. It just seemed like the perfect fit.”
As she now finds her feet in the UK, Lily is excited to get stuck in and experience more of the truly global community that Teulo has built over the last seven years. “I will continue working with New Zealand manufacturers and suppliers to share what Teulo’s about and get them on board. And I’ll keep working on Teulo’s online events, which should be an interesting adjustment with the time difference! But I’m also really looking forward to helping Jay grow Teulo’s European reach from London and building new industry relationships here. It’s such a buzzy place for my next step into the industry.”
Lily says it was the warmth of the people and the quality of the CPD events that ultimately drew her back after a couple of years away. “During my first role with Teulo, I would monitor events, seeing how it all works and watching the presenters. Jay brings in such inspiring speakers to talk about issues that I really care about, like emerging technologies and sustainable architecture, which I think should factor into all building decisions. More recently, I remember Tom Chung’s Teulo Talks Live event in Auckland - he’s doing such amazing things with mass timber, and I was genuinely a bit starstruck. Being in those sessions over the years has made me really love what Teulo does, and that experience now helps me express exactly what we do to our community and the value we can offer them.
“I just want Teulo to grow and grow. It has already made such an impact on the industry and has so much potential to be massive. For my part, I’m really keen to master this new role, to keep things moving and learning. I’m definitely in the right place.”
