Connecting Global Architectural Talent on the Auckland Stage

Teulo Talks: LIVE – CPD evening with Populous, Ponting Fitzgerald & more.

Teulo Talks: LIVE welcomes architects, designers and manufacturers to Auckland on the 18th of November for a CPD-accredited evening that’s built to activate.

This is not another seminar — it’s a night designed to spark change. Featuring James Pearce from Global firm Populous and supported by special guests David Ponting and Frances Young from Ponting Fitzgerald, this exciting live event is both a showcase for international talent and an opportunity for New Zealand architects and designers to gain inspiration, foster collaboration, and build meaningful connections.

Supported by keynote collaboration partner Insol, James’ talk, Catalysts for Change: How Architecture Activates Cities, explores how architecture at scale can shape cities, create enduring legacies, and act as a catalyst for growth. This Teulo Talks LIVE session offers a holistic perspective on delivering architectural work that not only builds structures but also transforms cities. In particular, James will discuss how large-scale sports and entertainment projects like Kai Tak Sports Park can promote economies and activate cities and how venues like Climate Pledge Arena can foster legacy, inclusivity, and long-term impact. Attendees will gain inspiration, practical frameworks, and enhanced digital tools to strengthen both their design practice and professional development.

“Any chance I get to come home to New Zealand and talk about the amazing projects we work on is exciting,” James says. “The topic of precinct activation and city transformation is a personal interest of mine. Even back to my days studying architecture at Auckland University, I've been really interested in city-scale opportunities and the transformation of communities through large-scale projects.” “I can’t wait to discuss the process psychology and community objectives Populous must navigate to achieve successful, large-scale change,” David adds. “To have James here, translating international learnings into a local context is a rare opportunity we can all be thankful for.”

Far from the typical conference event, every aspect of Teulo Talks: Live is carefully curated to energise and engage, with support from exhibitor partners Belcanto, Ulti Group, Häfele, Boundaryline, Tile Warehouse, Omega Windows & Doors, Insol, Resene, Resene Construction, Metwood, Soteria Doors, and Allco.
